Thanks. You hit two of my favorites with Townsend and Pirsig. Not having read Greenleaf I was curious to find out how he got credit for the concept of Servant Leadership when Townsend’s core belief seemed to be precisely that: “carrying water for your people>”.

A book recommended at the Managers Tools website: Communities of Practice: Learning Meaning & Identity by Etiene Wenger–its a bit theoretical– a more prgmatic approach might be Cultivating Communities of Practice by the same guru/dude. Read it together with Peter Senge’s Fifth Discipline.

The other books on my list aren’t busy-ness books: The Politics of Jesus by John Howard Yoder, Finite & Infinite Games by James Carse, Philosophical Investigations by Ludwig Wittgenstein and the Law of Love and the Law of Violence by leo Tolstoy.
