CIO Master Class led by Colin Beveridge
London 20th September 2011

In this interactive workshop you will learn how to build your own capability and presence as a Digital CIO, by following a well-proven, strategic and systematic approach to digital engagement.
The Challenge

We operate in a fast-moving, increasingly digital world that transcends traditional business boundaries, with new online engagement opportunities emerging at every turn. An effective CIO intuitively seeks out the important new technologies and invests personal energy into understanding their capabilities and business potential; this is an essential facet of making an effective contribution to a successful organisation.

Armed with understanding, we can then influence the adoption and exploitation of appropriate digital opportunities. But we must accept that understanding is not always enough. True insight usually depends on direct experience and that’s why we need to wholeheartedly embrace the digital lifestyle ourselves; after all, what good is a Digital Organisation without a Digital CIO?

Our Solution

In this interactive workshop you will learn how to build your own capability and presence as a Digital CIO, by following a well-proven, strategic and systematic approach to digital engagement.

You will discover valuable time-saving tips and time-wasting traps, from the hard-won lessons of a fully-connected expert. Most importantly, you will learn how to harness an effective mix of freely available tools, services and resources, for personal and professional benefit.

Benefits and Outcomes

You will gain the deepest insights available into how you can become a truly Digital CIO.

You will take away a proven, systematic approach for digital engagement that you can apply for your personal, professional and business benefit.

You will have a much better understanding of how you can source the best digital ingredients and quickly combine them into an effective recipe for success.

I am chairing/ facilitating two CIO sessions in London free to attend for CIO’s and senior IT Leaders.

These seminars will show you how some truly outstanding CIOs took a radical new approach to measuring and managing IT performance. Top performing CIO’s are able to improve quality, reliability and also to better predict how long work will take. They are able to get new services and products to market more quickly. They are also able to reduce IT costs and protect their organisations from risk.

What sets these outstanding performers apart isn’t a product or service you can buy, it’s simply a different way of thinking about what can and should be measured.

Hear in detail how two organisations used reliable, robust information to make radical improvements to the way in house services and IT vendors were managed which resulted in huge cash savings, quality improvements and enhanced credibility for the IT function. The seminars will also provide a practical session outlining how to get started with gathering and using better evidence about your IT service.

Through case studies and expert guidance you will learn:

How a major global IT operation saved £millions through more effective measurement and management of vendor contracts

What is possible – how to get started with gathering the information and measurements you will need to make decisions

How to gain credibility for IT through robust, 100% objective measurement of what matters to your customers

How to check and challenge what your suppliers and partners are doing in order to get the best performance

Why some CIOs and IT functions are able to deliver on time, on budget projects, and manage productive, cost saving vendor contracts and how you can start to apply their ways of working in your own organisation

Colin Beveridge will outline his vision of the biggest opportunity for IT at the ICT Cluster conference in Birmingham on 25th November.

In a session entitled Joined up management for a joined up world: the biggest opportunity yet for IT, Colin Beveridge will set out the case for provoking a dramatic but logical shift forward for IT, this is definitely not IT 2.0 or even IT 3.0; the forthcoming shift will be far more profound and far more rewarding, for all concerned.

We will look at how IT can grasp the biggest opportunity yet, to make an incredibly valuable difference for our stakeholders and a sustainable future for ourselves.

Coming Soon:
Starting in January 2011, Colin will lead a series of workshops for anyone who wants to make a better future for IT and themselves.

Space at these workshops will be very limited and booking priority will be given to those who register interest before the official launch

Outside of the tech, differences in culture from business to business, such as infrastructure support versus human resources, can make pin pointing events and alerting transactional errors laborious.

This Finextra and IBM-sponsored webcast seeks to examine how banks and financial services firms are implementing event management and transaction monitoring techniques in order to automate the IT environment.

Hear from:

Colin Beveridge, independent IT analyst (moderator)

Kenny Marritt, Head of Global Middleware, GISD, Barclays Bank

Dave Brooks, EMEA Network Services Manager, Credit Suisse

Sven Strassburg, Tivoli Sales & Strategy Leader for Business Process and Industry, IBM, Software Group

Our expert panel will discuss the following questions:

Does your IT department work for the business or with the business?

What benefits does automating your transaction monitoring offer to the enterprise?

What is the cost of transaction errors to a business?

What are some of the causes of transactional problems?

How does event monitoring prevent disruptions to the business?

How much does your IT department know about the businesses that use the IT?

Where do the challenges lie – is it with silo’ed applications or geographically distributed apps?
