Tech-savvy kids are using 21st Century excuses for failing to hand in homework assignments, according to Joanna Sugden writing in The Times My favourite from the list of inventive excuses? “The PC exploded when our dog went to the toilet on it.” This article led me to wonder if workers regularly try to blame technology for failing to complete tasks? Perhaps even resorting to tech-based white lies?
I suspect that I have heard some techno-fibs, such as:
- My PC is on the blink
- I didn’t get your email
- My spam filter settings must have deleted it
- My battery is just about to die
- I wrote the report but it seems to have got trashed when I saved it
- The formatting was all over the place when I printed it out
- I think it must be a virus
I am sure that others have heard far more inventive excuses – how about sharing them?
